Who You Are:

As the Financial Accountant for Catholic Medical Center (CMC), you will directly support the Director of Accounting – Healthcare System in the reporting of System’s Financial Operations. Your commitment to maintaining sound financial policies and your attention to detail will be integral to our team.

This is a fully benefitted, salaried, 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday) position.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Journal Entries: Prepare, input, and maintain standard and general journal entries on a monthly basis for all entities within the Healthcare System.
  • Reconciliations: Ensure accuracy by preparing monthly balance sheet, income, and expense account reconciliations. Maintain detailed documentation of account history.
  • Financial Monitoring: Calculate, verify, and record monthly accruals. Prepare billings for non-patient accounts receivable and monitor their receivables.
  • Cash Handling: Review cash input procedures to the A/R system, maintain daily cash logs for deposits, and reconcile cash deposits with A/R accounts.
  • Debt Management: Verify and record activity on debt balances, interest expenses, and bond trustee funds, including reconciliation to GL balances.
  • Budget Support: Assist in preparing the annual budget and year-end audit schedules. Respond to auditor inquiries during interim and year-end audits.
  • Analysis: Analyze revenue and expense postings on a monthly basis, comparing them to budgeted figures.
  • Problem-Solving: Research and address items identified during preliminary reviews by the Controller and Director of Accounting.
  • System Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and generating reports on various applications.

  • Assist in financial analysis of accounting applications, identifying and recommending corrective measures.
  • Work under the supervisor's direction to evaluate current procedures, finding ways to improve productivity.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and protocols, including participating in emergency situations.
  • Ensure equipment and materials are used with care, performing routine cleaning and maintenance.
  • Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information and foster positive relationships with colleagues and department heads.
  • Perform similar duties for CMC and its subsidiaries as assigned or directed.


What You'll Bring:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.

Experience: One to two years of accounting experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.

Skills: Strong knowledge of spreadsheet applications and Microsoft Windows. Familiarity with integrated G/L systems is advantageous.

Abilities: Ability to analyze data, work with detailed instructions, and exercise judgment in problem-solving.
